Ottale’s rock-hard scaled belly is used for combing sea and lake-beds to dislodge shell-fish. They possess an adeptness for using tools and are deceptively strong due to an excess of muscle tendons. A single strike from an Ottale can crack even the hardest of objects, whether it is a clam or an enemy. Ottale can float for days, expending little energy as they travel from place to place. They often travel in pairs and hold hands so they don’t drift apart. Local folklore considers Ottale a messenger between humans and creatures.

Above is my contribution to the recently released comic zine Pizza & Sex edited by Mark Delboy and myself. There were so many talented artists who participated, and we’re very pleased with how the final product turned out!

For my comic, I wanted to depict a sexy take on the creation of the universe. For four pages we follow the primeval hero through the void as he fucks the cosmos into existence. Pizza happens somewhere in there too!

Mark and I also designed the screen printed cover for the zine (black and white illustration and type designed by Mark, pattern by me). You can buy one here!

So I’m not used to doing anything sexy, certainly not anyone with this much cleavage. LOL

Elvira is an interesting character, her history, especially that tiff with Vampira over plagerism, is faascinating. There is a documentary on the phenominon of the “Horror Host” that is really a fascinating watch.

The concept behind these are that people are willing to build cities any where, even if it’s on the back of a giant that fell asleep hundreds of years before.

I’m headed north of the border and will be at TCAF this weekend (May 11th-12th)! I’ll be at table 157 on the first floor. Yaaaaay!

It’s my first time going to TCAF and my first time being in Canada since 2001, so I drew what I think Canada will be like. They give you a beaver, beer, hockey jersey, and poorly drawn moose once you get off the plane, right? Geez, that is one poorly drawn moose…

My latest book, The Radically Awesome Adventures of the Animal Princess, will be making it’s comic show debut AND Canadian debut. But to be fair, I guess ALL my books will be making their Canadian debut.

I’ll have copies of Ghost, Dinosaurs in Space, The Brave Boy Knight (in hardcover AND softcover, Sack Lunch, Beard (will only have a handful of copies), Monster Town Vol. 1 and 2 (will have even less copies), and maybe more!

Anywho, this weekend, table 157, Toronto Comic Arts Festival. Be there and buy some comics!

There are gonna be so many cool comic artists at TCAF! I’m so jealous of everyone who gets to go. Maybe next year, I guess.

It’s my first time in Toronto, and I am EXCITED! Joe Quinones and I will be hanging out at TABLE 216.

Primates isn’t officially out yet, but I have 10 copies of the book that I’m giving away for free. There’s a slight catch; if you want a book, you have to do a little work (I promise that it’s FUN work). Come see me for more info!
